恐怖をテーマにしてベストセラーになった怖い絵シリーズ。
これまで恐怖とは無縁と思われていた作品が、思いもよらない怖さを忍ばせているという驚きと知的興奮を伝えている。
昨年は「怖い絵展」という展覧会も開かれたらしい。
本書で僕が怖いと思ったのは以下の作品などかな。
- ラ・トゥール-「いかさま師」
- ゴヤ-「我が子を喰らうサトゥルヌス」
- ベーコン-「ベラスケス<教皇インノケンティウス十世像>による習作」
- ルドン-「キュクロプス」
- グリューネヴァルト-「イーゼンハイムの祭壇画」
ゴヤ、Bacon、ルドンの作品は、作品の背景を知らなくても一目見ただけで怖さ、不気味さが感じられた。
Also、著者の解説を読んでさらによく作品について知ることができた。
Other hand、ラ・トゥールとグリューネヴァルトの作品は、一見したところ僕はそんなに怖いとは思わなかったが（後者はけっこう恐ろしいけども）、説明を読んだら怖くなってきた。
特にグリューネヴァルト作「イーゼンハイムの祭壇画」は、聖アントニウス病という観点から見ると凄味が増すのだな…

- Last Embrio (2) Avatara of the Second Coming Taro Ryunoko (Written by) / Momoko (Illustrations)KADOKAWA / Kadokawa Shoten (Publishing House) / 角川スニーカー文庫2015年11月28日 (Release date)Kindle version (Format) 問題児シリーズが全12巻で第1部完結した。第2部は「ラストエンブリオ」とタイトルを変えて、続刊しているらしい。本書はその第2巻だ。第2部から新しいイラストレーターの人が加わったみたいだな。物語には、十六夜の孤児院の家族である西郷焔が登場して、ダブル主人公で進んでいくみたいである。本書では太陽主権戦争予選ゲームのミノタウロスとの戦いが終わった。インド神話で語られている“アヴァターラ”という王群が現れたりして、彼らも太陽主権ゲームに参戦するという。「魔王連盟」を作ろうとしていた殿下はアヴァターラ最後の化身らしいが、これも何か関係あるんだろうか。あとは“ウロボロス”もいるしなぁ。これから大変なことになりそうだ。Speaking of which、僕は今回分かったことがあった。本書で焔と鈴華がこんなことを言っていたのだ。 「ギフトゲームって勝利条件を全てクリアしたら、主催者を問答無用で服従させられるって聞いたけど」「死んだとしても無理やり復活させるって辺り、神様の箱庭って感じだよな。」（エピローグ、電子書籍のためページ数不明） こんなルールがあったとは、知らなかった。それで第1部の第4巻でレティシアが生きていたのか。巨龍となったレティシアの心臓を撃つことで第1、第2、第4の勝利条件が達成されたわけだな、なるほど～
