Kobo Abe (Written by) Chūō Kōron Shinsha (Publishing House) / 中公文庫 1975年7月10日 (Release date) Bunko (Format) 3編の連作エッセイ。 巻末の解説によるとエッセイというより論文？ 本書のテーマは国家と現代の平和、正統と異端についてから始まる。 And、定まった土地で農耕をする定着民と定着を拒んだ遊牧民に関して、人間の歴史が語られる。 最後の表題作は都市的な性格を持つというある人種と農民的な姿をとって現れる国家、両者の葛藤についてかな。 分かったような分からないような。 According to the commentary、3つの論文を統一するテーマは正統と異端の対立とのこと。 農耕民族的特徴をもつ国家（正統派）と、内なる辺境である移動社会または都市（異端派）。 著者はあくまで辺境側、異端的な立場みたいだ。 安部さんはこのような視点を持っていたのか。 また新たな観点から著者の作品を鑑賞することができそうな気がした。
安岡 章太郎 (Written by) Iwanami Shoten (Publishing House) / 岩波新書 1962年2月28日 (Release date) New book (Format) 1960-1961年の半年間、留学生としてアメリカテネシー州のナッシュヴィルで過ごした作家の手記。 本書では日々の生活の様子が読みやすく描かれている。 アメリカは広大で、気候も厳しいみたい。 ナッシュヴィルはアメリカ南部と北部の境に位置する街とのこと。 著者は人々とのかかわりの中で、南部と北部の対立、人種偏見、差別などの問題を実際に感じ、いろいろ考えたようだ。 だが暗い感じの語り口ではなく、英語がまだまだ得意でない著者が親切な住人たちに翻弄されるという図式が多かったかな。 僕も最近さぼっている語学の勉強をしないと。
Kotaro Sawaki (Written by) Shinchosha (Publishing House) / 新潮文庫 1996年3月28日 (Release date) Bunko (Format) 15編が収録されたエッセイ集。 著者の知り合いの多さ、読書家である様子が伝わってくる。 僕が特に興味をひかれたのは「君だけがしっている」と「赤や緑や青や黄や」かな。 前者では献辞についての話が書かれていた。 献辞とは本の冒頭によく書かれている「誰々へこの本を捧げる」というやつだ。 そこにはパターンがあるのではと著者はいう。 著者の分析は面白い。 後者は公衆電話の話。 今の時代は公衆電話を見つけるのが大変そうだ。 本書を読んで、著者が結婚していて子供もいるということを知り驚いた。 独身なのではないかというイメージを勝手に持っていたので。 The rest、小島武さんの挿絵が僕は気に入った。 特にP.19とP.69、P.255の絵かな。 これらは鉛筆で描かれたものなのだろうか、表紙の装画もいいな～
Kotaro Sawaki (Written by)Shinchosha (Publishing House) / 新潮文庫1989年5月29日 (Release date)Bunko (Format) ニュージャーナリズムの旗手であるという著者の15編のエッセイが収められた本。本書は講談社エッセイ賞を受賞したらしい。ニュージャーナリズムという言葉はどこかで聞いたことがあると思ったら、この間読んだトルーマン・カポーティの作品のあとがきで触れられていたのか。ジャーナリズムにフィクションの技法を取り入れたということらしい。 「奇妙なワシ」の類型的な表現についての考え、「退屈の効用」の下北沢の高校生の話、「ぼくも散歩と古本が好き」が僕は印象に残った。The rest、著者は知り合いが多いんだなと感じた。すぐ影響される僕もエッセイを書いてみたくなったな。
工藤 隆雄 (Written by) Yamato Keiyasha (Publishing House) 2016年10月14日 (Release date) Hardcover (Format) 著者が丹念に拾い集めたという、各地の山小屋の主人たちの話34編が収められた本。 山で暮らす人から見ると、地上は「下界」と呼ばれるのだな～ 山小屋の思い出、自然、人、動物についてなどいろいろな話が載っていた。 どれもハートウォーミングだったりおもしろかったりして、僕は夢中で読んだ。 34編、みな興味深い話が収録されているから本書はすごい。 僕の父の知り合いの方の話も記されていたようで、偶然だなぁと思った。 The rest、歩荷（ボッカ）という言葉を今回初めて知った。 山小屋などに荷揚げをすることだという。 ときには100キロを超える荷物を運ぶこともあるそうで、surprised。
Saburo Shiroyama (Written by) Shinchosha (Publishing House) 2008年1月24日 (Release date) Kindle version (Format) 永眠した最愛の妻との思い出を書き遺した著者の手記。 全体を通して妻への愛情が伝わってきた。 僕は16章と最後の20章が特に心に響いた。 人間の長い歴史の中で、永遠の別れは何回も繰り返されてきたことであると思うが、実際に当事者になったときの悲しみの深さは計り知れないのだろうな。 科学や医学の進歩によって、病気、老いが克服されるといいのに。
